Prepare to Step into Your STEM Career

We want to help you step into your STEM career. Sign up for BIOL 420: STEM Professional Development to prepare yourself for entering the workforce. Topics covered include resume development, interviewing, professional communication, and much more!

  • 2-credit hour elective
  • Tuesdays at 1:30 - 3:30 pm
  • No prerequisites

This course aims to provide you with the knowledge and tools to effectively market yourself to the workforce and concrete experience through interacting with leaders from local companies and campus offices. Course Description:
This 2-credit-hour course will provide students with a toolbox for a wide variety of STEM-related careers in a diverse society. It will include practical professional development training, interactive workshop sessions, invited speakers, and a project in which students explore different career paths. Students will leave with an established professional network in the broader community, polished professional documents, a developed career-focused presence on social media, tangible products that can be included in a portfolio, and awareness of diversity-related issues needed to be effective leaders. There are no prerequisites. The course counts as science credit.
